Variable Rates

With a variable-rate mortgage, the rate of interest you pay changes when the lender reduces or increases its lending rate - known as the standard variable rate.

Most borrowers end up with this type of loan as their discount or fixed rate is only for a specific period of time. The interest rate charged will then revert to the lender’s standard variable rate unless they take out a new fixed or discounted rate.
